NORFOLK, Va. - World War II Medal of Honor recipient Hershel Woodrow “Woody” Williams, a retired U.S. Marine, speaks during the ship commissioning ceremony for the USNS Hershel “Woody” Williams at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in Norfolk, Virginia, on Mar. 7, 2020. The USNS Hershel “Woody” Williams will serve as a flexible platform to support a variety of missions, including air mine countermeasures, counter-piracy operations, maritime security and humanitarian missions.
