The G-1 provides the general, operational, manpower, and personnel functions of administration to ensure unit and individual readiness, coordinating administrative matters of internal staff sections and external agencies. Supervises the execution of command administrative policies, receiving and routing correspondence, preparing responses to special correspondence (FOIA/VOTING/DCP) and maintaining the command reports control, and forms management programs. Supervises the Reserve manpower programs that support mobilization and integration of the Marine Corps Reserve. Supervises the service to civilian personnel on pay and personnel programs, work force management, leadership development, and performance evaluation. Provides oversight for manpower and staffing management to the command via T/O management, PMB/MTP execution, promotion/selection board management, command sponsorship program, OPT/WG participation, CLSWP, and personnel staffing management. Provides oversight for USMC sourcing solutions for individual joint and non-standard force requirements for operations and training/testing/exercises.

The Intelligence Division is responsible for policy formulation, planning, programming budgeting, management, staff supervision, evaluation, and oversight for intelligence activities. The division monitors intelligence training, force structure, and readiness, for both Active and Reserve Components, formulates and validates intelligence requirements.

The G-3/5 fuses the Command’s operations functions with plans, advising the Commander on Maritime Fires, Current and Future Operations, Mission Assurance, Policy, OPLAN/CONPLAN Development, Global Force Management, Force Deployment and Execution, and Foreign Engagement activities.
MARFORCOM G-4 is responsible for all logistics-related matters for Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, Marine Forces Command, and Marine Forces Northern Command.
G-6 advises COMMARFORCOM/CG FMFLANT/COMMARFORNORTH and staff on all C4 related matters in support of C2 (OPLANs, Force design, Assured C2, Information Environment (Cyber, Space, Spectrum), and Naval integration.
The G-7 supports Commanding General FMFLANT, Commander MARFORCOM, Commander MARFOR NORTHCOM through force development efforts in order to advance operational effectiveness of the current and future force. G-7 performs these duties across the spectrum of force development by focusing on the core competencies of Aviation, Readiness, and Training and Exercises. These core competencies utilize life cycle processes through a “Plan – Do – Check –Act” model that ensures implementation of the Commander's priorities.
The G-8 Comptroller provides financial resource management, accounting, internal control, and audit support which will optimize the operational, material and resource posture of MARFORCOM, ensuring a ready, relevant, and responsive force with trained units and individual Marines as a sustainable and ready operational reserve in order to augment and reinforce active forces for employment across the full spectrum of crisis and global engagement.
The MARFORCOM G-9 Division assists in the development of service level capabilities, requirements and solutions; and assesses internal and force level processes in order to ensure Fleet Marine Force capabilities meet joint force requirements and achieve operating efficiencies.
