Authorized Marine Corps Combat Boots

8 Mar 2016 | Cpl. Ian Leones Marine Forces Command

Marine Administrative Message 117/16 provides clarification of which boots are authorized for Marines to wear in uniform.

Per Marine Corps Bulletin 10120 Fiscal Year 2016, the rugged all terrain hot weather and temperate weather boots meet the minimum boot requirement. Additionally, the previously issued Marine Corps combat boots, both hot weather and temperate weather, also meet the minimum requirement.

Marines may continue to wear special issue or organizational issue boots, i.e. safety and flight boots, per the commander’s guidance. However, these boots will will not satisfy the minimum boot requirement.

All uniform clothing, equipment, and accessories issued or sold by the Department of Defense Supply System are considered regulation. Non-supply system clothing items are regulation if they contain a USMC approval identification serial number, except as otherwise authorized in these regulations.

For more information and a complete list of authorized Marine Corps combat boots, see MARADMIN 117/16.
