The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) and amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) render honors to each other off the coast of Norfolk, Va., during the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)'s PHIBRON/MEU Integration Training (PMINT) exercise Sept. 20, 2013. PMINT is the 22nd MEU's first opportunity to work aboard the Bataan as a composited MEU since the MEU's 2011 deployment. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2014 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
