Virginia Beach, Va. (Nov. 11, 2013) – Headquarters and Service Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, provided a color guard and marching platoon for this year’s Virginia Beach Veterans Day Parade. The Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations organized the parade, which has been put on for more than 40 years. “The parade is a way to make sure our patriots know we appreciate their service and their sacrifice,” said Johnny Johnson, a former Marine, Vietnam veteran and board member of the Virginia State Board of Veterans Services. “It is also a way for me to honor the memory of the brave Marines that I served with and who gave their lives so many years ago.”
