Colonels Jeffrey Kenney, officer in charge of the Expeditionary Operations Training Group aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, and Sean Salene, commanding officer of Marine Aircraft Group 29 aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River, publicly address details surrounding the recent CH-53E Super Stallion mishap on Sept. 4, 2015. The Super Stallion with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464 from Marine Corps Air Station New River made a hard landing during Helicopter Ropes Suspension Techniques (HRST) training in a landing zone at Stone Bay, a Camp Lejeune satellite training area, at approximately 9 p.m. Sept. 2, 2015, resulting in one fatality and 11 injured U.S. Marines.
