Master Chief Frank E. Johnson Jr. Command Master Chief, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command

A native of Buffalo Creek, West Virginia, Command Master Chief Johnson enlisted in the United States Navy in February of 1986.  Upon completion of Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, IL he attended Hospital Corps “A” School at Great Lakes, IL.

 

Sea assignments include 2d Marine Division Camp Lejeune, NC; 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, NC; 2d Marine Division, 6th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, NC, and 2nd Force Service Support Group, Camp Lejeune, NC.

 

Deployments include three tours with the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit embarked in the USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44), USS TRENTON (LPD 12), and USS NASSAU (LHA 4) in support of Operations Joint Endeavor Bosnia; Quick Response, Central Republic of Africa; Assured Response, evacuation of the American Embassy, Liberia; Iraqi Freedom 4-06 Camp Hit, Iraq; Iraqi Freedom 6-08, Regimental Combat Team Six, Camp Fallujah, Iraq; Operations Khanjar and Moshtarak in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, April 2009 to April 2010; and returned in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, March 2011 to March 2012.

 

Shore assignments include the U.S. Navy Hospital Oakland, CA; U.S. Navy Hospital, Charleston, SC; U.S. Navy Hospital, Camp Lejeune, NC; Branch Medical Clinic, La Maddalena, Sardinia, Italy; and Instructor tour, Field Medical Training Battalion (East), Camp Johnson, NC.

 

Command Master Chief assignments include Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan, Helmand Province, Afghanistan; 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC; Regional Command (Southwest)/II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Helmand Province, Afghanistan;  and II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, NC.

 

Command Master Chief Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational and Vocational Education from Southern Illinois University, is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 111, and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course Class 045.

 

Personal awards include the Legion of Merit (3rd award), Bronze Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4th award), Combat Action Ribbon (2nd award), and various other unit and campaign awards.
